AUGUSTA, Ga. – The GRU Augusta Men's and Women's Track & Field teams will be back on the track this weekend for the first time of the 2014 season when they compete at the Cougar Invite in Columbus, Ga., this Saturday, March 1.

The Cougar Invite will mark the start of the second season for the newly formed program.

The Jaguars will waste no time in sizing up the competition in the conference, as they compete against three other PBC schools. Amongst the 11 schools attending will be, Clayton State, Columbus State, and Montevallo.

The men will be led by reigning Peach Belt Conference long-jump champion, Christian Collier, along with returning 1500m NCAA qualifier, Dustin Ross.  On the women's side sophomore Jordan Humphrey will help lead the way for the Lady Jags.  Humphrey is returning from a solid freshman campaign where she notched several high finishes, including a top eight finish in the 5k at the conference championships.

The Jaguars are full of new talent and are ready to hit the ground running under the leadership of head coach Adam Ward.  "We are looking forward to starting our second season of track and field and the first as GRU," Ward said.  "This weekend will be a good test of where our teams stand at this time early in the year."
