AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University men's tennis team will celebrate 2019 Senior Day prior to its Peach Belt Conference Match with Georgia Southwestern on Sunday, March 31 at 12:00 p.m. The Jaguars will honor senior duo Joao Ferreira and Patrick Oliveira who have been together since their freshman season in 2016.
Both from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Joao Ferreira and Patrick Oliveira helped guide Augusta into the national ranks starting in their rookie campaign. The Jaguars climbed to No. 20 in the nation and No. 6 in the NCAA Southeast Region during their freshman season and the team has remained in top 50 throughout their time. Ferreira was ranked No. 20 in the region for singles play and spent most his time at number two singles.
Oliveira has been nationally-ranked for singles competition for the majority of his tenure. He was ranked the 10th best player in all of Division II as a junior and earned All-American status as a sophomore. Oliveira was also a first-team All-Conference selection and took home the Freshman of the Year award at the Augusta Athletics Awards Banquet.
All home tennis matches at Newman Tennis Center are open to all and free of charge.
