FLORENCE, S.C. – The Augusta University men's tennis squad traveled to the 2019 City of Florence College Tennis Invitational Feb. 8-9. Augusta fell 4-0 to No. 11 Wingate, beat Barton 4-0, and lost to Bluefield State 4-2.

The Jaguars played their first away match of the season on Friday afternoon with a neutral-site non-conference match against the No. 11 nationally-ranked Wingate Bulldogs. Augusta fell 4-0 to the Bulldogs, dropping three singles matches, while three went unfinished. In doubles play, the Jags' No. 1 team of Patrick Oliveira and Joao Ferreira lost 6-3 and the No. 2 team of Martin Hurtado and Kevin Corenstein fell 6-2. Lucas Bolle and Ricard Rubio battled Wingate's No. 3 team, but were outlasted 5-4 in a close defeat.
