AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University men's tennis squad won a 6-3 non-conference match over the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers on Wednesday at Newman Tennis Center.
The match moved AU to 8-10, while the UAH Chargers are now 5-12 overall.
Ranked No. 23 in the nation for men's singles, AU junior Patrick Oliveira won 6-2, 6-0 at the No. 1 slot, before freshman Alan Vilaro only dropped one point in a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles. The Chargers took the next two singles matches, before Jags freshman Martin Hurtado and senior Jose Cobo delivered wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
Augusta won two doubles matches to get a 6-3 victory. AU is set to host the North Georgia Nighthawks on Friday, March 30 for a 1:30 p.m. Peach Belt Conference match at Newman Tennis Center.
