Augusta Drops 6-3 Match To North Georgia

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University men's tennis team met the North Georgia Nighthawks on Friday afternoon and fell 6-3 in Peach Belt Conference play at Newman Tennis Center.

 

 

Augusta honored its four seniors for their four-year contributions to the program in a pre-match ceremony. The Jaguars recognized Amelia Pinoargote, Jose Cobo, Gabriel Dos Santos, and Moritz Gehlhaus.

 

With two injuries sustained, the Jaguars started the day down 2-0. No. 23 nationally-ranked Patrick Oliveira won at No. 1 singles and Cobo cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles, but the Nighthawks notched the others for the win.

 

Oliveira and Cobo also won at No. 1 doubles – winning an extended 9-7 match for AU.

 

Augusta plays a Peach Belt Conference match at Georgia Southwestern in Americus, Ga. on April 13 at 12:00 p.m.
