Oliveira Named An All-American By ITA

TEMPE, Ariz. – Augusta University men's tennis sophomore Patrick Oliveira was named an All-American on Monday after the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its final rankings of the season. Oliveira and North Georgia's Niklas Zielen represented the Peach Belt Conference and earned All-America status after being ranked among the top 20 singles players in the nation in the final ITA poll.

 
 

From Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Oliveira was ranked as high as No. 12 in the nation and was No. 2 in the final region ranking. He was named first team Peach Belt All-Conference and PBC All-Academic, while compiling a 14-3 overall record at No. 1 singles to lead the Jaguars in wins and winning percentage. He finishes the season ranked No. 20 in the nation for singles play.

 

Oliveira ended the season on an 8-2 run at No. 1 singles and went 7-3 in PBC play. He helped the team earn a top 50 national ranking in November 2016. He is the first Jaguar to be named an All-American by the ITA since Bernardo Fernandes garnered the honor in 2012.
