AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University men's tennis squad hosted the No. 14 Georgia College Bobcats on Tuesday afternoon at Newman Tennis Center and won 6-3 in Peach Belt Conference action.
Augusta upset the nationally-ranked Bobcats to improve to 7-8 overall and grabbed their first win in the Peach Belt. The Bobcats (8-7, 3-4 PBC) led 2-1 after doubles play, but the Jaguars went 5-1 in singles.
Joao Ferreira and Gabriel Pansera won 9-7 at No. 3 doubles, before nationally-ranked AU sophomore Patrick Oliveira opened singles matches with a three-set win at the No. 1 slot. Arthur Andrade took care of Anton Waern 7-6, 6-3, before Gaspard Mathieu didn't drop a point in a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles.
Gabriel Dos Santos and Pansera capped off the day with victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
Augusta plays at North Georgia on Wednesday, March 29 for a 12:00 p.m. match.
