AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University men's tennis squad hosted USC Aiken on Tuesday afternoon and lost a 6-3 Peach Belt Conference match at Newman Tennis Center.
Augusta, ranked No. 47 in the nation, moved to 6-8 on the year and remains winless in the PBC at 0-7. The Pacers, ranked No. 39 in the nation, are now 5-5 overall and 2-4 in the conference.
Joao Ferreira and Moritz Gehlhaus got a win at No. 3 doubles for Augusta, but the Pacers snagged the first two doubles contest for the early lead on the day.
No. 12 Patrick Oliveira put the Jags on the board in the first singles match. The Nationally-ranked sophomore sealed a 6-4, 6-1 win, before Gehlhaus won at No. 4 singles in three sets. The Pacers produced victories in the rest of the meetings to survive the Jags.
The Jaguars play at North Georgia on Wednesday, March 29 for a 12:00 p.m. Peach Belt Conference match.
