Augusta University Announces 2017 Men’s Tennis Schedule

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University men's tennis coach Michael McGrath announced the 2017 schedule that begins in February and features 16 total matches.

The Jaguars host nine matches in front of their home fans at Newman Tennis Center. Augusta plays all their home matches at NTC, located off of Wrightsboro Road.

The Jags begin the slate on the road at Erskine College on Feb. 3 and at Barton College Feb. 4 for back-to-back non-conference matches. The 2017 home opener takes place Thursday, Feb. 9 when the Jags host Belmont Abbey for a noon first serve at NTC.

The first home dual match with the women's tennis squad is on Feb. 10 against Emmanuel College at 2:00 p.m. Both the men's and women's tennis teams compete across multiple courts at NTC for dual events.

Peach Belt Conference competition commences on Valentine's Day at Lander University Feb. 14, before the squad takes a trip to Anderson, S.C., on Feb. 16 to take on the Trojans.

Returning back to their home turf, the Jags host three-straight PBC matches with Columbus State (Feb. 19), Flagler (Feb. 25), and Armstrong State (Feb. 26). Back-to-back Friday matches at Young Harris on March 3 and at Francis Marion on March 10 continue league play, before Augusta hosts three more in a row.

The Jaguars welcome Georgia College for a Sunday match at noon on March 12, and host Concord March 14 at noon and rival USC Aiken on March 21 at 1:00 p.m. in NTC.

A trip to Dahlonega, Ga., to face North Georgia on March 29 is the last road match of the regular season and a showdown with Georgia Southwestern on Friday, March 31 wraps the regular-season schedule.

Francis Marion University hosts the Peach Belt Conference Tournament April 21-23 in Florence, S.C. The NCAA Regionals are slated for April 29 – May 2 and the NCAA Finals May 9-13 in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
