Nighthawks Give GRU First Loss In Last Seven Matches

DAHLONEGA, Ga.  – The GRU Augusta men's tennis team lost their first match in the last seven to the North Georgia Nighthawks 6-3 on Saturday afternoon in Peach Belt Conference play in Dahlonega, Ga.

The Jaguars moved to 8-2 on the year and 2-2 in the league with the loss, while the Nighthawks jumped to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in the league.

The Jags dropped all three doubles matches to give UNG an early advantage on the day. GRU's No. 1 singles player Romain Ferreira defeated Matheus Guida 6-2, 6-4 to get the first win for the Jags.

Senior teammate Romain Brunie and sophomore Arthur Andrade each won their singles matches, but three more UNG wins gave them the advantage for the 6-3 win.

The Jaguars play a non-conference match at Erskine on Tuesday, March 10 at 1:00 p.m. in Due West, S.C.
