Jags Headed To Postseason

AUGUSTA Ga. – Earning at-large bids to the NCAA Southeast Regional Tuesday night, the Augusta State men's and women's tennis programs are ready for the postseason.

"I am very proud of both teams for earning another NCAA bid," Head Coach Michael McGrath said. "We are playing against two of the top teams in the country and we are looking forward to the battle."

Making its 12th appearance all-time and its 10th in the last 13 seasons, the sixth-seeded Jaguar men will take on third-seeded Lander in first-round at Columbus State at 1:00 p.m. CSU hosts the first and second rounds in Columbus on Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28 with the winners of Saturday's play meeting at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The No. 1 Armstrong Pirates will host the other Southeast Regional in Savannah, Ga. at Bacon Park. The Lady Jags will battle fourth-seeded Georgia College in match two of Sunday's play at 10:00 a.m. ASU's women fell to the Bobcats earlier this season 5-0 on Tuesday April 2nd at GC. In the third doubles competition ASU's Lissa Murakami and Cecilia Pimentel had the closest match of the day dropping a 9-7 bout to the Bobcats.

Nationally-ranked 14th overall the ASU men's squad was one of seven PBC teams to advance to the postseason. The Peach Belt is the only Division II conference to place seven teams in the field – no other league has more than five.
