GREENWOOD, S.C. – Tournament host Lander knocked Augusta State out of the Peach Belt Conference Men's Tennis Championships Friday 5-4 at The Joe Cabri Courts.
The Bearcats, ranked No. 9 nationally, claimed four of six singles matches after the No. 12 Jaguars opened with victories in two of the three doubles matches.
Bernardo Fernandes and Victor Guimaraes each collected a pair of victories for the Jags, who dropped to 15-9 overall and will now hope for an at-large bid to the NCAA Southeast Regional. ASU entered the conference tourney ranked fifth in the latest regional rankings. The victory lifted Lander to 18-3 on the season.
