ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Augusta State fell 6-1 to Division I UNC Asheville in non-conference play Wednesday.
Victor Guimaraes notched a perfect day, winning his No. 5 singles match 7-5, 7-5 over Pete Conaty before combining with Victor Cabellos for a 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles to tighten the doubles point, but the Bulldogs held on for 8-5 victories in the other two doubles matches to take it.
Cabellos also played strong tennis before falling 7-6, 7-6 at No. 3 singles.
Augusta State returns to action Friday when they travel to Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, and hosts Flagler in Peach Belt Conference action Sunday at 10:00 a.m. at Newman Tennis Center.
