Jaguars Take 10th in Loaded Field at the John Hayt Invitational

PONTA VEDRA BEACH, FL. – The Augusta University Men's Golf team concluded the The John Hayt Invitational on Monday, finishing in 10th place. After three rounds of play, the Jags shot a 302 in the first round, a 294 in the second, and a 287 in the third for a combined total of 883 (+19) on the par 72 course at Sawgrass Country Club.

 

The 14-team field featured some of the top teams in the country including No. 1 Florida State, No. 3 Wake Forest, No. 14 Clemson, and No. 15 Liberty. 5 other competing schools were ranked nationally in the top 50.

Clemson finished the tournament in first place, besting host North Florida by 11 strokes. Florida State finished third (-1), Liberty finished 4th, and UCF finished 5th. UAB, Louisville, Wake Forest, and South Florida finished in spots 6-9 respectively with Augusta rounding out the top 10.

Ben van Wyk led the Jaguars, shooting a team-low Round 3 score of 69 (-3). He finished in a tie for 8th (-2), 8 places above where he finished after the first day of competition.  

 

Following behind him was Dan Sheehan, who finished three strokes back of van Wyk (+1 over par) and in 14th place. Alex van Wyk finished tied for 20th (+20). Hampus Wijkstrom finished in 72 and Dawson Booth rounded out the Jaguar team.
