Men's Golf Welcomes CJ van Wyk and Gareth Steyn to the 2021 Class

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Augusta University men's head golf coach Jack O'Keefe announced the signing of incoming freshmen Gareth Steyn and CJ van Wyk. Both signed National Letters of Intent (NLI) and will join the Jaguars in the fall of 2021.

 

Name: Gareth Steyn

Class: Freshman

Hometown: Perth, Australia

Previous School: Kingsway Christian College (High School)

 

"We are excited to have Gareth join our program next fall," said O'Keefe. "He is a very structured young man in his golf and academics. Gareth has played a national schedule in Australia and is ranked 4th in the entire country of Australia for junior golfers. We look forward to Gareth making an immediate impact at Augusta University."

Steyn will graduate from Kingsway Christian College in Perth, Australia where he excelled on the junior golf circuit. Born July 25th, 2002, he is the son of Marius and Heloise Steyn. Gareth has one younger sister, Gwyneth.

Class: Freshman

Hometown: George, South Africa

Previous School: Glenwood House School

 

"Having 3 brothers on the same team at Augusta University will be unique," said O'Keefe. "CJ is an accomplished golfer with a national ranking of 6th in all of South Africa for the under 19's. He has played an impressive international schedule with great success. CJ and Gareth are two of the highest ranked commits that we have ever had here at Augusta University. I am excited to see what the future holds for the men's golf team."

CJ van Wyk will graduate from Glenwood House School in George, South Africa. Born October, 23rd, 2002, he is the son of Constantyn and Ael van Wyk. CJ has two older brothers, Alex van Wyk and Ben van Wyk, both of whom are currently on the Augusta University golf team.
