BIRMINGHAM, AL. – The Augusta University men's golf team finished in a tie for 7th at the Graeme McDowell Invitational at the Greystone Golf & Country Club.
Augusta was in seventh place to begin the final round on Wednesday and held off Troy to remain seventh.
Alex van Wyk shot his best round of the tournament on the final day with a 68(-4) to lead the team in a tie for 9th at 1-under-par. Ben van Wyk stayed at par or under for the first two rounds and fired his best score of 68 (-4) during the first day. Daniel Sheehan tied for 38th (+10) after posting a round one 73. Hampus Wijkstrom finished in a tie for 46th (+12). Brock Hoover tied for 51st (+15) and Dawson Booth finshed tied for 66th (+23) to round out the tournament for the Jags.
Host UAB took the top spot in the 10 team field. Geoorgia Southern took second (-6) while Louisiana Monroe and Middle Tennessee State took 4th and 5th.
Augusta will travel to Bridgeport, West Virginia to compete in the HealthPlan Mountaineer Invitational on October 19th-20th. The tournament will be hosted by West Virginia. The HealthPlan Mountaineer Invitational hosts 14 teams each year.
