Augusta Finishes Day 11th in Windermere

Windermere, Fla. – The Augusta University Men's Golf team sits in a tie for 11th after the first round of the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational (hosted by UCF). The Jags finished the day at +5 over par on the par 72 course, shooting a 293. Host UCF sits in first with a score of 280 (-8 under par). Florida was five strokes back of the lead in second place at 285, while LSU and California rounded out the top three with a score of 287 apiece.

Individually the Jaguars were led by Ben van Wyk who was the only member of the squad that was under par for the day, shooting -3 under and in a tie for seventh with a score of 70. His brother, Alex van Wyk, finished three stroked back at +1 over par and in 29th overall. Gustav Andersson and McCullough both shot a 75 in the round and sit in 46th place for the day. Jack Vajda was the last Jag to finish today, coming in with a score of +8 over par.

Augusta will return to action tomorrow when they continue with the second of three rounds at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational.
