Augusta Tied for Fourth at Wolfpack Intercollegiate

St. Augustine, Fla. – The Augusta University Men's Golf team sits in a tie with UNC Wilmington for fourth place after the first two rounds at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate. The Jaguars shot 573 for the day, good for -3 under par. Campbell leads the field of 15 with a score of -18 under par, followed closely by host school NC State at -14 under. UNC Greensborough rounds out the top three at -12 under par.

The Jags had a rough start to the day, as they shot a 298 in the first round landing them in ninth at +10 over par. The team rebounded tremendously in the second round though, shooting an impressive 275, or -13 under par, which was the second lowest single round score of the tournament so far.

Ben van Wyk was the top Jag golfer today, shooting a 71 (-1 under par) in the first round, and a 69 (-3 under par) in the second. His two round total of 140 earns him a spot in the top ten for individual play at seventh. Gustav Andersson finished only four strokes back of van Wyk at 144. Andersson struggled in the first round, going +4 over par, but came out in the second with the best individual performance for the Jags in a round, shooting a 68. Victor Lindgren would also shoot +4 over in the first round with a 76, but he would end the day only one stroke behind Andersson, as he shot a 69 (-3 under par) in the second. McCullough Pickens saw his game improve by 10 strokes between rounds one and two. He also scored a 69 in the second round to finish the day at 148. Hampus Wijkstrom was the only Jaguar to finish both rounds over par. Despite this, he still only finished nine strokes behind van Wyk at 149 and lands in the top 50.
