Pickens Earns Top Ten Finish at Old Town Club Collegiate

Winston-Salem, N.C. – The Augusta University Men's Golf team finished in 10th place after the third, and final, round of the Old Town Club Collegiate (hosted by Wake Forrest).

Washington won the tournament finishing an impressive -30 under par. The next closest was nine strokes back in host Wake Forrest. Louisville and West Virginia complete the top three having tied for third at -12 under par. As a team, the Jags finished +2 over par during the stretch.

McCullough Pickens had an excellent tournament as he finished -5 under par in a tie for ninth place. On the par 70 course, Pickens shot a 67 in the first round, landing him on the leaderboards' top ten. He followed up by shooting a 68 in the second round. Pickens stumbled a little in the third, but finished strong to break even at 70 strokes for a three-round total of 205.

Jack Vajda had a solid outing as well, finishing in 29th while shooting a 211 over all three rounds. His score of -2 under in the second round of play was second lowest overall for Augusta in any round. Gustav Anderson started out slow in rounds one and two, but he would go on to have the best final round for the Jags shooting -1 under. He finished in 43rd place with an overall score of 213.

 

The Jags travel to Raleigh, N.C. for their next tournament of the year at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course (hosted by NC State) from Saturday, October 5th to the 6th.
