Pickens Tied for Ninth after First Day of Old Town Club Collegiate

Winston-Salem N.C. – After the first day of Golf concluded, the Augusta Jaguars men's golf team sits in 11th place at the Old Town Club Collegiate hosted by Wake Forrest. Through two rounds of play, the team shot a combined 560 good for finishing even. Leading the field of 13 is Washington at -23 under par. West Virginia and host Wake Forrest are tied for second, trailing the lead by five strokes at -18 under par.

McCullough Pickens was the top Jag golfer on the day, going -5 under par in the first two rounds. His score of 135 puts him in a tie for ninth place. Jack Vajda was the only other member of the squad to break even, with a score of 140, and ending the day in tie for 30th place. Ben van Wyk sits at +2 over par with a score of 142 in 44th place. Gustav Andersson finished the day shooting a 144 (+4 over par), good for 52nd place while Alex van Wyk ended the day in 71st, with a score of +9 over par.

Hampus Wijkstrom competed as an individual for the tournament and managed to finish the day at only +4 over par, and is tied with teammate Anderson for 52nd.


Augusta will be back to finish the tournament tomorrow for the third round of the Old Town Club Collegiate.
