AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta University men's golf team gained incoming freshman Hampus Wijkstrom for the 2019-20 season. Head coach Jack O'Keefe announced that Wijkstrom signed his National Letter of Intent (NLI) and will join the team in the fall.

Hometown: Saltsjobaden, Sweden
Wijkstrom was born in Stockholm, Sweden, but grew up in Saltsjobaden. He attended the Celsius National School of Golf in Uppsala, Sweden for three years and plans to graduate in 2019. A 6-0 right-hander, Wijkstrom shot 74-69-72 to win the of 2019 RIG & NIU Championship, while also winning the individual title at the 2016 and 2017 Juniorslaget.
Other notable victories during his high school career are wins at the Hurricane Tour at Lake Lanier and the Teen Tour Future at Vassunda Golf Club. He placed runner-up at the 2018 Vassunda Junior Open, took third place at the Junior Master Invitational at Drottningholms Golf Club, and earned fourth at the Uppsala Golf Junior Open.
Wijkstrom plans to study economics at Augusta University.
Wijkstrom joins incoming freshmen Ben van Wyk and Jack Vajda as the new signees for the 2019-20 season.
