Everett Leads Jags Through Two Rounds At NCAA Championships

STILLWATER, Okla. – Augusta University combined for a 12-over 300 on Saturday afternoon in the second round of the 2018 NCAA Championships at Karsten Creek Golf Club. Augusta senior Broc Everett is leading the team and is tied for eighth individually at 4-under-par.

 

 

Sitting 28th to start the second day of play on the par-72, 7,460-yard course, Augusta was grouped with Iowa State and UCF and were the final group to tee off in round two. The Jaguars sit in 30th place at 23-over-par with one more round to play.

 

No. 13 Texas Tech leads the event at 5-under, while host and No. 1 nationally-ranked Oklahoma State holds at second one stroke back. No. 6 Alabama is third (-3) and No. 28 Duke and No. 3 Oklahoma are tied for fourth (+2).

 

Everett etched his second straight 70 (-2) of the tournament on Saturday with three birdies. On the 18th green with the sun set and only twilight guiding the final group, Everett carded a four on the par-five final hole to get to four under for the tournament.

 

Sophomore Gustav Andersson and freshman Laken Hinton each shot 4-over 76 in round two. Andersson is tied for 86th (+5) and Hinton 129th (+10). Freshmen Alex Shead and Olof Gunnarsson each turned in 78 (+6) in the second outing, with Gunnarsson moving to 134th and Shead 140th.

 

The third day of stroke play takes place Sunday, May 27, with Augusta teeing off at 1:50 p.m. (CDT) with Oregon and Kansas. The field of 30 will be cut in half after round three and the top 15 teams will compete in one final round of stroke play on Monday to decide the top eight teams who advance to match play May 29-30.
