RALEIGH, N.C. – The Augusta University men's golf team is in eighth place and five shots out of fifth place after 36 holes of play at the 2018 NCAA Raleigh Regional at Lonnie Poole Golf Course. Augusta senior Broc Everett is in third place individually at 9-under-par.
The Jaguars slid two spots down the leaderboard on Tuesday and shot an even-par 284 as a team round two. Augusta senior Broc Everett followed up his day-one 67 (-4) with a 5-under-par 66 to lead the Jaguars. Everett posted six birdies and shot 66 for the third time this season. He is three shots off the top score of the tournament with one more round to go.
Freshman Alex Shead shot his second straight even-par 71 for the Jaguars and is tied for 33rd (E), while sophomore Gustav Andersson and freshmen Laken Hinton and Olof Gunnarsson picked up a few strokes in round two. Andersson is in 42nd (+1) after posting a 2-over 73, Hinton shot 74 and is 50th (+2), and Gunnarsson sits tied for 69th with a round-three 79.
No. 16 Texas leads the event by eight strokes at 24-under-par. Host NC State is second (-16), No. 28 Duke and No. 4 Georgia Tech share a tie for third, and Liberty is fifth (-11).
The top five teams at the end of the tournament advance to the NCAA Championships and Augusta is five shots out of fifth place. Teams play the final 18 holes to decide the top five advancing squads on Wednesday, March 16. Round three tee times begin at 7:30 a.m.
