Everett Top Five After 36 Holes At Autotrader Collegiate Classic

DULUTH, Ga. – The Augusta University men's golf team is tied for eighth with Chattanooga and UNCG after playing two rounds on Monday in the Autotrader Collegiate Classic at Berkeley Hills Country Club. Augusta senior Broc Everett is in fifth place overall at 3-under par and is nine shots off the lead.

The 16-team field opened play with a shotgun start of 36 holes on the par-72, 6,706-yard course. Georgia Southern broke away from the pack and leads the tournament 18-under par. Host Georgia State is the closest team to GSU at 5-over par, with Notre Dame sitting third (+6).

 

Augusta sent senior Broc Everett, sophomore Gustav Andersson, and freshmen Olof Gunnarsson, Laken Hinton, and Alex Shead. AU senior Ryan Johnson competed as an individual.

 

The Jags were tied for fifth through one round, after shooting 6-over par (294). The team turned in a 297 (+9) in the second round to sit 10 shots off the lead. Everett posted four birdies and Shead three, as the two sat inside the top 10 through the first 18 holes.

 

Everett shot a 1-under 71 and Shead an even-par 72 in round one. Everett improved by a stroke with a 70 (-2) in round two to move into fifth and Shead sits tied for 18^th (+2). Gunnarsson is 55^th (+8) after a pair of 76s, Hinton is tied for 64^th after firing 75 (+3) and 78 (+6), and Andersson is 80^th at 12-over par.

 

The Autotrader Collegiate Classic concludes Tuesday with tee times beginning at 8:05 a.m. Augusta tees off with UNCG, Francis Marion, and Yale beginning at 9:10 a.m. on hole 10.
