Jaguars Sit Tied for 11th Through Round One At Maui Jim Intercollegiate

 

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Augusta University men's golf team shot a 306 (+18) to share a tie for 11th place with Gonzaga after round one of the Maui Jim Intercollegiate at Desert Forest Golf Club on Friday. 

 

Hosted by Georgia State on the par-72, 7,203-yard course, the 2017 Maui Jim Invitational kicked off Monday with the opening 18 holes and Kent State grabbed ahold of the leaderboard with a round-one 281 (-7).

 

Augusta sent seniors Broc Everett and Ryan Johnson, sophomore Gustav Andersson, and freshmen Olof Gunnarsson and Alex Shead. In his first collegiate tournament, Gunnarsson led the Jaguars with an even-par 72 for a tie for 11th.

 

Everett carded a 4-over 76 and is in a tie for 40th, while Shead and Andersson shot 79 (+7) to share a tie for 57th. Johnson is in a tie for 65th after shooting 80 (+8) in round one.

 

Georgia State's home event features Augusta, Arizona State, Nebraska, Rice, Georgia Tech, LSU, Kent State, Gonzaga, Minnesota, Hawai'i, Kansas, Houston and Lipscomb.

 

Augusta returns to the course for round two on Saturday, Sept. 23 with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. (MST).
