Augusta 13th After 36 Holes At Erin Hills

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Augusta University men's golf team concluded play in the opening two rounds of the Marquette the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills on Sunday and are in 13th place 31-over par.

The Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills, site of the 117th US Open, began on Sunday with 15 top Division I men's golf programs opening play for 54 holes. After playing as the longest course in major championship history this past June at 7,741 yards, Erin Hills features a similar layout for the Marquette Intercollegiate, playing as a 7,722 yard-Par 72.

 

Texas A&M has a small lead over the field and leads at 4-over par, but UCLA lurks in second one stroke behind. Host Marquette is 10-over, Florida State 12-over and Michigan State 17-over for tight race amongst the top-five teams.

 

Augusta started the tournament on Sunday with a 304 (+16) and shot 303 (+15) in the second outing. The Jaguars are only three strokes outside of the top 10 and are 10 strokes out of seventh place with one round to play.

 

Sophomore Gustav Andersson led Augusta in day one with an even-par 72 – the low score for AU through 36 holes. He started day two in the top 10 of the leaderboard and sits tied for 16^th overall (+3) after scoring a 75 (+3) on Monday.

 

Jags senior Broc Everett shot 75 (+3) and 74 (+2) and is 5-above par in a knot for 20^th, while freshman Laken Hinton fired back-to-back 77s and is 10-over. Freshmen Alex Shead and Olof Gunnnarsson rounded out the Jaguars, with Shead sitting 69^th and Gunnarsson 79^th.
