ORLANDO, Fla. – Making their fourth-straight appearance at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational, the Augusta University men's golf team is in 13th place after round one on Sunday at Isleworth Country Club. The Jaguars shot 7-over par (295) and are six shots back from fifth place.
The three-day tournament is hosted by the University of Central Florida and features a 17-team field on the par-72, 7,544-yard course. There are 11 teams ranked top 50 in the nation and three teams in the top 10.
No. 28 Illinois leads the event after round one at 9-under par, while No. 10 Florida is in second 6-under par. No. 13 Texas Tech is third (-2), No. 21 California fourth (-1), and No. 12 LSU is fifth (+1). Augusta is tied for 13th with North Texas.
Freshman Alex Shead finished 1-under par to lead Augusta and is tied for 11th in the field. Second-year Jag Gustav Andersson signed for a 74 (+2) and is tied for 47th, senior Broc Everet and Olof Gunnarsson are tied for 57th after shooting 75 and freshman Laken Hinton fired a 77 to sit tied for 68th.
Round two takes place on Monday, Oct. 23 with tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m.
