Two-Time Defending Champion Augusta Competes At MEAC Tourney April 26-28
SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Augusta University men's golf team plays at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men's Golf Championship April 26-28 at Crosswinds Golf Club in Savannah, Ga. Augusta is seeking its third consecutive MEAC Championship title after winning in 2015 and 2016.
 
 

The championship features two-time defending champion Augusta University, along with Bethune-Cookman, Florida A&M, Hampton, Maryland Eastern Shore, North Carolina Central and Savannah State. The winner will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Div. I Men's Golf Championship. The Jaguars joined the MEAC as an associate member for men's golf On Sept. 10, 2014. Located in Norfolk, Va., the MEAC sponsors 16 Division I (FCS) sports with automatic qualifying bids for NCAA postseason competition,

 

The three-round championship will be played over the course of three days, beginning on Wednesday, April 26 at 8:00 a.m. with the opening round. The final round will tee off at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, April 28. Pairings will be announced on Wednesday, April 26 and live scoring will be available through Golfstat.com

 

The NCAA Division I men's golf selection show will air on Thursday, May 4 at 12:00 p.m. on Golf Channel.

 

The Crosswinds Golf Club is a unique par-72 course with narrow fairways that features five par-5s and five par-3s, along with TiFeagle greens and Bermuda fairways.

While claiming the championship in back-to-back years, Augusta also earned the Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Coach award for the last two years. Head Coach Jack O'Keefe received the coaching award for 2015 and 2016 and AU's Robin Petersson won the individual title the past two seasons.
