ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Former Augusta Jaguar All-American Henrik Norlander tied for second on Monday morning in a sudden death playoff in The RSM Classic at Sea island Golf Club. The second place finish for Norlander is the best of his PGA Tour career.
Norlander currently has a 71.157 scoring average and is ranked 164th in the FedExCup Rankings. It was Norlander's first top-10 performance of his young career. Norlander logged 21 events in 2016 and had one top 25 finish in that period.
On Sunday at Sea Island, Blayne Barber, Mackenzie Hughes, Henrik Norlander and Camilo Villegas forced the third extra playoff hole. The foursome returned to cold conditions on Monday morning and Hughes holed an 18-foot par putt from off the green Monday morning to win the RSM Classic for his first PGA Tour win.
Hughes won the first hole and took the title 17-under par. Norlander tied for second with Villegas, Barber, and Horschel also 17 below par. Norlander opened his fourth round with a birdie on the first hole and went on to birdie five total.
Norlander was a three-time All-American, won four tournaments, and had a career stroke average below 72 for the Jaguars from 2008-2011. He ended his career ranked 16th nationally and helped Augusta win back-to-back National Championships in 2010 and 2011.
