ORLANDO, Fla. – The Augusta University men's golf team tees off in their fourth event of the fall at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational Oct. 16-18 in Orlando, Fla. Hosted by the University of Central Florida and North Texas, the TCI will be held at Isleworth Country Club for 54 holes of golf.
For the sixth consecutive season, the Jaguars will compete at the Tavistock. The tournament was titled the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational until the 2013-14 season when Tavistock took over the title.
UCF and North Texas welcome 15 of the nation's best teams to Orlando to compete on the par-72, 7,544-yard course.
The field includes five teams ranked in the top-10 in the nation. The total field includes UAB, Arizona, Arizona State, Augusta, California, No. 7 Florida, No. 1 Illinois, New Mexico, No. 9 North Carolina, North Florida, North Texas, Purdue, No. 6 Texas Tech, UCF, and No. 3 Vanderbilt.
"The tournament is one of the best in college golf; played on a fabulous golf course against one of the best fields in the country. We look forward to the challenge of competing against the top teams," Head Coach Jack O'Keefe said.
Teams will play one round per day beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, Oct 16. Augusta tees off with Arizona State and Texas Tech on Sunday morning.
"Our season has been very inconsistent as we have played some spectacular rounds, but then followed those with very poor play. We just have to be more consistent and value par when we play and eliminate the big numbers," O'Keefe said. "We have an experienced team, but we must play higher percentage shots in each and every round. I look forward to seeing how we do this week against a top field on a very good golf course."
Last season the Jags took 10th out of 15 teams at the Tavistock. Prior to that they finished 10th (2014), 14th (2013), 11th (2012), and 11th (2011).
