ORLANDO, Fla. – The Augusta Jaguars finished the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational 14-over par on Tuesday at Isleworth Country Club to take a tie for eighth place in their fourth event of the fall. Augusta improved by one spot in round three to finish tied with No. 1 Illinois out of 15 teams.
The event had 10 teams ranked in the top 50 in the nation and five ranked in the top. No. 7 Florida ran away with the lead after two rounds and went on to win the event 20-under par. The Gators finished 11 strokes ahead of second-place No. 3 Vanderbilt (-11). No. 36 Arizona State notched third (+3), North Florida fourth (+4), and No. 9 North Carolina fifth (+6).
Augusta shot eight shots over par in the final round led by sophomore Broc Everett. Everett earned his lowest finish of the season with a ninth place showing four shots under par. Senior Cooper Brown shot a 70 (-2) in the final round to tie for 12th for his best finish and senior Emmanuel Kountakis tied for 44th (+10).
Augusta senior Jake Marriott ended the event 12-over par to tie 52nd and freshman Gustav Andersson rounded out the team in 68th (+18).
The Jags have finished fifth, ninth, sixth, and eighth in their first four events of the fall season.
The total field included UAB, Arizona, Arizona State, Augusta, California, No. 7 Florida, No. 1 Illinois, New Mexico, No. 9 North Carolina, North Florida, North Texas, Purdue, No. 6 Texas Tech, UCF, and No. 3 Vanderbilt.
Augusta plays their final event of the fall Oct. 30 – Nov. 1 at the Kiawah Classic on Turtle Point Golf in Kiawah Island, S.C. The three-day tournament is hosted by College of Charleston.
