KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Augusta University men's golf team begins its fourth season under head coach Jack O'Keefe on Sept. 12 at The Invitational at Kiawah in Kiawah Island, S.C.
The 2016-17 Augusta Jaguars play a two-day event Sept. 12-13 on The Ocean Course, one of five historic courses at Kiawah Resort for College of Charleston's home event.
"I am looking forward to our 2016-2017 golf schedule. We start out at the Ocean Course at Kiawah, the site of the 2012 PGA Championship won by Rory McIlroy," O'Keefe said. "The Ocean Course was also the site of the 1991 Ryder Cup."
The Jags return four players who have made significant starts over the last two three seasons including seniors Jake Marriott, Viktor Edin, and Emmanuel Kountakis. Junior starter Broc Everett is also back along with seniors Cooper Brown, Meechai Padung and junior John Yi.
New to Augusta is freshman Gustav Andersson and junior transfer Ryan Johnson.
Augusta starts the season ranked No. 29 in the nation on Golfstat.com as of June 2, 2016 and No. 37 on Golfweek.com as of June 5, 2016.

TOURNAMENT NOTES
The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort has played host to the 2007 Senior PGA and 2012 PGA Championships. It will also host the 2021 PGA Championship. The Ocean Course is only the fourth course to host each of the PGA of America's major championships. Probably no other golf course in the world outside of the United Kingdom and Ireland is affected as much by the wind. Located on the eastern-most end of Kiawah Island, The Ocean Course has more seaside holes than any other course in the Northern Hemisphere. College of Charleston senior William Rainey is the defending individual champion shooting 5-under par during the 2015 edition of the tournament. Georgia Southern is the defending team champion firing a three-round score of 873 (+9) ahead of last year's runner-up CofC (+13).
