STILLWATER, Okla. – The Augusta Jaguars are one stroke behind Louisville for a top-five spot through two rounds in the NCAA Stillwater Regional at Karsten Creek Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon.
Ranked No. 30 in the nation, Augusta began round two tied for fifth place with No. 31 Purdue in the 14-team field. The Jags 21-over par in round two and sit 36 shots above par and one shot behind Louisville (+35).
Host No. 6 Oklahoma State continues to lead on their home course at even par, while No. 18 Oklahoma is second (+12), No. 31 Purdue third (+26), No. 7 Clemson fourth (+33), and Louisville fifth (+35).
The third and final round take places on Wednesday, May 18 with the final 18 holes. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the finals.
Augusta Junior Jake Marriott remained in the top 10 of the leaderboard to lead the Jags for the second-straight round. Marriott marked a 77 (+5) and is four-over par for a tie in eighth place. Sophomore Broc Everett is in a tie for 25th place with a round-two 79 (+7) and is nine shots above par.
Senior Maverick Antcliff improved five strokes with the lowest second-round score for Augusta. Antcliff fired a three-over 75 and is 11 over in a tie for 29th, while senior teammate Robin Petersson shot his second-consecutive 78 (+6) to sit knotted in 37th. Junior Emmanuel Kountakis turned in an 85 (+13) and sits in 67th.
The field for the 2016 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships consists of 81 qualifying schools, which includes 31 conference automatic qualifiers, 50 teams selected at-large and 45 individuals not on those teams.
Team and individual medalist titles will be decided May 27-June 1 at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon. The University of Oregon is the host institution for the 2016 championships.
