SAVANNAH, Ga., - The No. 30 nationally ranked Augusta Jaguars have all five players in the top 10 through 36 holes at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship and are leading the event 12-under par on Crosswinds Golf Club in Savannah, Ga.
On the par-72, 6,748-yard course, the Jaguars started round two with a three shot lead and now lead the seven-team field by 14 strokes. Bethune-Cookman is closest team behind the Jags and sits in second place two-over par, while Florida A&M is in third (+28).
North Carolina Central remains in fourth (+38), Savannah State fifth (+44), Maryland Eastern Shore sixth (+67), and Hampton is seventh (+107).
Round three concludes the tournament on Saturday, April 23 for the third and final 18 holes.
Augusta senior Robin Petersson, who was named the 2015 MEAC Most Outstanding Player after winning the 2015 MEAC Championship, is leading the 32-player event at eight-under par. Petersson finished with a 67 (-5) in his second round, one stroke shy of his career low round. He had seven birdies on the day.
Junior Jake Marriott is three shots behind Petersson at five below par to hold on to second place. Marriott shot a 72 (-2) in round two with an eagle on the par-five 18th hole and had four birdies overall.
Two Jags are in a tie for fifth place with sophomore Broc Everett and junior Emmanuel Kountakis each sitting one-over par. Senior Maverick Antcliff is in 10th place three-over par with an even-par 72 in his second outing.
