Augusta Ascends To Third At Linger Longer Invitational

GREENSBORO, Ga. – The Augusta Jaguars are five shots off the lead after 36 holes of play at the Linger Longer Invitational and sit in third place in the 13-team field at Great Waters Golf Course at Lake Oconee.

Round two began at the 11th annual LLI, hosted by Kennesaw State and Mercer, with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m.

No. 39 Augusta began with No. 12 Alabama, and No. 26 Baylor on the par-72, 7,073-yard course and shot one-over (289) in round two and are four under overall to sit in third place.

No. 12 Alabama leads the event nine-under par, No. 21 Virginia is a close second (-6), No. 39 Augusta third, Kennesaw State fourth, and No. 2 Georgia rounds out the top five with the final 18 holes remaining for Tuesday, March 22.

The Jags were six shots off the lead to begin the second outing of 18 holes and climbed three spots to third place, led by senior Robin Petersson who sits tied for sixth overall. Petersson shot 71 (-1) in round two and sophomore Broc Everett turned in a 73 (+1) after shooting a four-under 68 in the first round on Sunday.

Senior Maverick Antcliff improved 10 spots in the field and is tied for 19th one-over par. Juniors Jake Marriott and Emmanuel Kountakis both share 33rd at four over, with Marriott shooting 73 (+1) in round two and Kountakis his second 74 (+2).

Teams complete the LLI with round three on Tuesday, March 22.
