Former Jag holds off Phil Mickelson for first pro tour win in 11 years

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Augusta men's golf alumnus Vaughn Taylor won the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am., at 17-under par on Sunday at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, Calif.

Vaughn Taylor jumped the leaderboard seven spots after shooting -17 under with nine birdies in the fourth and final round. Taylor drained a long uphill putt on the par-four No. 16 to get to seven-under par where he would finish with a final round 65 (-7).

After finishing the round before the rest of the leaderboard, Taylor had to watch Phil Mickelson (-16) wrap up his round. Mickelson carded a two on the par-three No. 17, but missed the birdie putt on No. 18 that would have forced a playoff.

Taylor returns to Augusta to play in The Masters on April 7-10 at Augusta National Golf Club.

The victory is the first for Taylor on the pro tour in 11 years. Taylor shot a 70 (-2) in round one, a 68 (-4) in round two, and a 67 (-5) in round three.
