Senior Robin Petersson cards third overall in second event of season
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Augusta University men's golf team finished third overall at the Graeme McDowell Shoal Creek Invitational in the 12-team field at seven-over par led by Jaguar senior Robin Petersson who placed in a tie for third overall.
The Jaguar men's golf team opened in a shotgun format for 36 holes of play at the Graeme McDowell Shoal Creek Invitational at the Shoal Creek Country Club on Monday and the Jags began round three in fifth place. Augusta turned in their best round in the finale and climbed two spots to claim third.
UAB won their home event at -13 under par and North Florida came in second at plus two. Augusta University took third (+7), Houston fourth (+10), College of Charleston fifth (+11), South Carolina sixth (+12), Washington seventh (+18), Mississippi State eighth (+20), Mississippi ninth (+21), Troy 10th (+29), Winthrop 11th (+33), and West Virginia 12th (+37).
Petersson fired his second 70 (-2) of the tournament to finish in a tie for third at three-under par for 54 holes. Augusta's Jake Marriott shot an even-par 72 to claim a tie for ninth and Maverick Antcliff and Emmanuel Kountakis each tied for 26th overall, with Kountakis also shooting 72 (E) and Antcliff a 73 (+1) for his low round of the event.
Broc Everett posted a 76 (+4) in round three to place in a tie for 43rd and Cooper Brown, who competed as an individual, carded his low round of the season with a 77 (+5).
Augusta University tees off at the NC State Wolfpack Intercollegiate on Oct. 5-6 in Raleigh, N.C., at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course hosted by N.C. State.
