Jags In Fifth Place After 36 Holes At Graeme McDowell Shoal Creek Invitational

Senior Robin Petersson sits tied for fourth overall in Birmingham, Ala., to pace Jags

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Jaguar men's golf team opened in a shotgun format for 36 holes of play at the Graeme McDowell Shoal Creek Invitational in Birmingham, Ala., on Monday and the Jags are in fifth place in the 12-team field paced by senior Robin Petersson who is tied for fourth overall.

SCORING & RESULTS

The 12-team field teed off at 8:30 a.m. on the par-72, 7,154-yard course at Shoal Creek COuntry Club for the two-day event with 36 continuous holes of play. In their second event of the season, the Jags were represented by seniors Maverick Antcliff and Robin Petersson, juniors Emmanuel Kountakis and Jake Marriott, and sophomore Broc Everett. Jags junior-transfer Cooper Brown competed as an individual in the 66-man field.

Finishing round one in fifth place just eight shots off the lead, the Jags finished eight-over par and are 10 shots off of host, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, who leads the event at one-under.

UAB leads the event at one under, South Carolina, North Florida, and the College of Charleston are in a tie for second six over, the Jags are fifth eight-above par, Mississippi and Houston are tied for sixth, Mississippi State is eighth, Troy ninth, Washington 10, Winthorp 11th, and West Virginia 12th.

The Jaguars were led by senior Robin Petersson who currently sits fourth heading into the final 18 holes after a two-under 70 in round one and a one-over 73 in round two. Petersson posted six birdies in round one to shoot a 70. Petersson was four over after a triple bogey on 11, but the veteran Jag settled in and carded birdies on 14 and 16. In round two, Petersson fired four more birdies.

Jake Marriott is tied for 13th overall at one-over par thanks to a 70 (-2) in round two with four birdies. Senior Maverick Antcliff followed up a round one 75 (+3) with a two-over 74 in round two to tie for 27th.

Broc Everett and Emmanuel Kountakis are even in a tie for 34th overall at six-above par. Cooper Brown Shot 83 (+11) and a 81 (+9) as an individual.

Tee times begin at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29 for the final 18 holes.
