WILMINGTON, N.C.
-- Augusta State kicked off its spring season in strong
fashion Monday afternoon, sprinting out to an 19-shot lead through
two rounds of the Seahawk Intercollegiate at Country Club of
Landfall.
The fifth-ranked Jaguars fashioned the low round of the morning and
afternoon, registering an eight-under 280 and a one-over 289 for a
36-hole total of seven-under 569.
ASU is 19 shots in front of South Carolina and 20 shots clear of
tournament host UNC Wilmington, with Georgia State and East
Carolina rounding out the top five.
Jaguar sophomore Patrick Reed registered a four-under 68 and a
one-under 71 and is tied for the individual lead at five-under 139
with ECU's Jake Colley.
All six Jaguars in the field are among the top 20. Junior Henrik
Norlander is tied for third at three-under 141 (70-71) and fellow
junior Carter Newman is alone in fifth at one-under 143
(69-73).
Junior Mitch Krywulycz, playing as an individual, is tied for sixth
at even-par 144 (70-74), while senior Jake Amos (73-73=146/+2) is
tied for 11th and sophomore Taylor Floyd 74-74=149/+5) is tied for
18th.
ASU will be paired with South Carolina and UNCW for Tuesday's
third and final round. Floyd will lead off for the Jags at 8:54
a.m., followed by Amos at 9:03, Newman at 9:12, Norlander at 9:21
and Reed at 9:30. Krywulycz is in the first pairing of the day at
8:00 a.m.
