BLUFFTON, S.C.-- Augusta State's Patrick Reed closed with a 1-under 71 Sunday in the final round of The Players Amateur at Belfair Golf Club just outside of Hilton Head Island.

Reed (74-69-73-71) finished in a tie for 16th at 1-under 287, while Carter Newman posted a 1-under 71 of his own and was 36th at 7-over 295 (75-74-75-71). Taylor Floyd, Mitch Krywulycz and Derek Chang all missed the 54-hole cut.

Oklahoma State's Kevin Tway fired a 7-under 65 in the final round and registered a seven-shot victory over Georgia Tech's James White, who owned the 54-hole lead but closed with a 1-over 73.

SAVANNAH, Ga. --
ASU head golf coach Josh Gregory wrapped up the 89th annual Georgia Amateur Championship on Sunday at The Landings Club Deer Creek Course.

Gregory managed a final-round, 3-over 75 and finished tied for 56th at 17-over 305 (76-75-79-75).

Augusta's Lee Knox claimed the State Amateur title with a 5-under 283, good for a one-shot victory over fellow Augustan Chase Parker.

AKERSBERGA, Sweden --
ASU's Henrik Norlander continued his stellar play during the final day of the European Amateur Team Championship Saturday at Osterakers Golf Club.

Norlander helped lead Sweden to the finals, where England topped the Swedes 4.5-2.5. For the fifth straight day, Norlander was a stalwart for the six-man Swedish squad. After recording 3.5 points on Thursday and Friday vs. Denmark and Spain, respectively, Norlander was responsible for 1.5 more points on Saturday.

In foursomes, Norlander and Pontus Widegren teamed up to defeat the English duo of Eddie Pepperell and Billy Hemstock 3-and-2. In singles play, Norlander halved his match with Chris Paisley, who played his collegiate golf at Tennessee.

NOTES … Kristy McPherson, the younger sister of ASU women's golf coach Kevin McPherson, shot a 1-under 70 Sunday in the final round of the U.S. Women's Open at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa. … McPherson, who was tied for eighth and just three shots off the lead after the first round, tied for 19th place at 10-over 294 … Vaughn Taylor tallied a 4-under 67 Sunday in the final round of the PGA Tour's John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. … Taylor finished alone in sixth place at 16-under 268, 10 shots back of winner Steve Stricker … The finish marked Taylor's fifth top-10 and sixth top-25 effort of the season … Jamie Elson shot a 6-over 77 Sunday in the final round of The Barclays Scottish Open at Loch Lomond Golf Club in Glasgow, Scotland … Oliver Wilson, who missed the cut at Loch Lomond, is in the field for next week's The Open Championship at St. Andrews in Fife, Scotland … Wilson tied for 24th in the 2009 Open Championship at Turnberry, five shots behind Claret Jug winner Stewart Cink.
