AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State head men’s
golf coach Josh Gregory announced the signing Wednesday of Shawn
Yim to a national letter-of-intent.
He is the first early signee for the Jaguars, now in their seventh
season under Gregory’s direction.
Yim, a prep product from Mill Creek High School in Buford, Ga., is
currently ranked No. 56 in the 2009 recruiting class by the
American Junior Golf Association. He won the 2008 Southeastern
Junior Golf Tour’s UGA/Auto Trader.com Invitational and
posted four top-10 finishes in AJGA events in 2008. He finished
runnerup in the AJGA Rome Junior and turned in a ninth-place finish
in the AJGA Club Car hosted by Charles Howell at Champions Retreat
Golf Club in Evans.
“I am very excited about Shawn becoming a Jaguar,”
Gregory said. “He is the highest-ranked player from the state
of Georgia that I have signed since I’ve been here at Augusta
State. I have been impressed with all facets of his game since the
first time I saw him play. I look forward to the opportunity to
coach Shawn, and look forward to him being an immediate impact
player at Augusta State."
The Jaguars open their Spring, 2009 schedule on Feb. 23-24 in the
UCF Rio Pinar Invitational at Rio Pinar Country Club in Orlando,
Fla.
