ADELAIDE, Australia. -- Former Augusta State standout Wallace Booth was part of the victorious Scotland team Sunday at the World Amateur Team Championship.
The victory was the first for Scotland, which also claimed the
country’s first Eisenhower Trophy after playing as part of
Great Britain and Ireland up until 2002.
In brutally tough playing conditions, Scotland tied for the best
round of the day – a one-over 147 – and claimed a
nine-shot victory over the United States. Sweden, which featured
current ASU sophomore Henrik Norlander, took third while France and
Italy tied for fourth.
American Rickie Fowler claimed the individual title with a two-over
75 and finished two shots clear of Scotland’s Callum Macaulay
and Canada’s Nick Taylor. Booth finished alone in fourth at
five-under 285 despite a final-round 79 and England’s Sam
Hutsby was fifth.
Norlander (74-68-71-80) tied for 21st at three-over 293.
In the World Amateur, the team’s two best individual scores
count.
