CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- Augusta State fired a
nine-under 279 Monday morning in the opening round of Aldila Scenic

were in third place after the morning round. Jacksonville State
posted an 11-under 277 and co-host Chattanooga booked a 10-under
278. Wichita State and Western Carolina rounded out the top five at
280 (-8) and 283 (-5), respectively.
Junior Jake Amos paced the Jags with a three-under 69, while junior
Janne Kaske was one of three players to post a two-under 70.
Redshirt freshman and true freshman Brendan Gillins and Taylor
Floyd notched a pair of 70’s in their first collegiate event
while sophomore Henrik Norlander signed for a two-over 74 and
didn’t count towards the team’s score for the first
time in his ASU career.
Senior Mike Keast and sophomore Jacob Carlsson, competing as
individuals, were able to complete 36 holes. Carlssson managed a
one-under 143 (69-74) while Keast produced a four-over 148

The round of the day was turned in by Matt Carvell of Southeastern
Louisiana. Carvell set a new course record with a 12-under 60 which
included three eagles and eight birdies, along with a pair of
bogeys.
Inclement weather forced the suspension of play, with the teams
returning to the course to complete their second rounds beginning
at 9:00 a.m. The third and final round will immediately follow,
with the teams remaining in their pairings from the first two
rounds.
