AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The Augusta State men’s
golf team opens its 2008-09 season on Monday, Sept. 8 in the Aldila
Scenic City Invitational at Council Fire Golf Club in Chattanooga,
Tenn.
The tournament location is the site of ASU’s second-place
finish in the NCAA East Regional in May, where the Jaguars posted a
54-hole total of 20-under 832.
The Aldila Scenic City Invitational is a two-day, 54-hole event.
The 18-team field will play 36 holes on Monday beginning at 8:00
a.m., with the final round slated for an 8:00 p.m. start on
Tuesday.
Council Fire Golf Club is a Robert Cupp design that opened in
1992. The 6,961-yard, par-71 layout plays to a course rating of

last season’s squad. Norlander, a sophomore from Danderyd,
Sweden, became the first freshman in school history to earn
All-America honors, posting a 72.39 stroke average with six top-20
finishes and a pair of tournament victories.
