TULSA, Okla. -- Augusta State sophomores Taylor
Floyd and Patrick Reed, along with head coach Josh Gregory, wrapped
up their second rounds Tuesday in the U.S. Amateur.
Gregory turned in the best round of the trio with a two-over 72
and finished tied for 161st at 13-over 153. Floyd tied for 143rd,
following his first-round 73 with a 79 for a 36-hole total of
12-over 152. Patrick Reed finished in a tie for 232nd, rebounding
from an 83 with a four-over 74 in the second round. All three
Jaguars played Cedar Ridge Country Club on Tuesday after tackling
Southern Hills Country Club on Monday afternoon.
At the conclusion of play Tuesday, the field was cut to the low 64
scores for match play, which begins Wednesday. Second and third
round matches are scheduled for Thursday with the quarterfinals on
Friday and semifinals Saturday. The scheduled 36-hole championship
match is set for Sunday.
Tim Jackson, a 50-year old real estate investor from Germantown,
Tenn., followed up a two-under 68 in the first round with a
two-over 72 Tuesday to earn medalist honors at even-par 140. Not a
single player in the 312-player field was able to break par for the
36 holes or shot lower than 68 either day.
