AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State’s Henrik
Norlander has been named to the PING All-Southeast Region team,
according to a recent announcement from the Golf Coaches
Association of America. With his selection, Norlander is now a
candidate for All-America honors.
A sophomore from Danderyd, Sweden, Norlander enjoyed one of the top
seasons in school history during the Jaguars’ 2008-09
campaign.
Norlander helped lead ASU to two tournament titles and to an NCAA
Southeast Regional appearance in Sorrento, Fla. In 11 events over
31 rounds, Norlander registered a 71.55 scoring average, the
fourth-lowest in school history behind only two-time All-Americans
Jamie Elson and Major Manning.
He recorded a team-high 18 rounds of par or better, including a
team-best eight rounds in the 60’s. He paced the squad in
countable-round percentage (.857) (24-of-28) and in top-10 finishes
(four) and top-20 finishes (eight).
Norlander was selected to play in the Palmer Cup on April 23. He
posted a 2-2-0 record and helped lead Europe to a 13-11 victory
over the United States on June 5 at Cherry Hills Country Club in
Denver, Colo.
