AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State’s Janne
Kaske has been named the national Player Of The Week, according to
a release today from Golf World magazine’s
headquarters in New York, N.Y.
Kaske, along with LSU sophomore Megan McChrystal, were selected
College “Players of the Week” for the period between
March 30 and April 5. The feature will appear in the April 13th
issue of Golf World and can be viewed online now at www.golfworld.com.
A senior from Porvoo, Finland, Kaske’s final-round 65,
combined with a pair of 67s, earned him medalist honors at the
Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate in Awendaw, S.C., sparking the
Jaguars to their first win since 2005. He followed up that effort
with a T-3 finish that lifted ASU to the team title in its home
event, the Administaff ASU Invitational, on April 6.
Kaske has recorded four top-10 and six top-20 finishes this season.
In addition, he has fashioned 12 rounds of par of better and seven
rounds in the 60’s.
Four birdies over her final nine holes gave McChrystal a closing 69
to claim medalist honors by two strokes at the Bryan National
Collegiate in Brown Summit, N.C. Her one-under 215 at Bryan
Park’s Champions Course also helped lift the Tigers to the
team title.
McChrystal became the seventh golfer in school history to record
more than one individual win in her career, having won the LSU
Classic earlier this spring.
Golf World’s “College Players of the
Week” section highlights a male and a female who have
demonstrated outstanding individual play during a seven day period.
