Jaguars Increase Lead At Hootie

AWENDAW, S.C. -- Augusta State fired a 12-under 272 and increased its lead in the second round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate at Bulls Bay Golf Club just outside of Charleston.

The 272 marked the best round of the day among the 15-team field and represented ASU’s lowest round of the season.

A senior from Porvoo, Finland, ASU’s Janne Kaske booked his second straight four-under 67 and at eight-under 134, owns a one-shot lead over LSU’s John Peterson.

ASU junior Jake Amos turned in his own four-under 67 and improved from 17th to seventh place. Freshman Taylor Floyd recorded his best effort as a collegian -- a four-under 67 -- and jumped from 37th to 16th. Sophomore Henrik Norlander is tied with Floyd for 16th at even-par 142 after his second straight 71. Sophomore Carter Newman carded an even-par 71 and is tied for 41st.

At 10-under 558, the Jags tripled their lead from two shots to six strokes over No. 28 LSU. No. 18 Central Florida is seven shots back of ASU while Virginia is fourth, eight shots off the pace. No. 16 North Carolina State and fifth-ranked Clemson are tied for fifth, 10 shots back.

South Carolina’s George Bryan IV is in third place at six-under 136, two strokes back of Kaske. Kentucky’s Jordan Blann fired the low round of the day, a seven-under 64, and is fourth at four-under 138. Virginia’s Will Collins and Ben Martin of Clemson are tied for fifth three-under 139.

The third and final round is slated to get underway Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. The Jags, who will be paired with LSU and Central Florida, will be led out on the course at 9:40 by Newman, followed by Floyd at 9:50, Norlander at 10:00, Amos at 10:10 and Kaske at 10:20.
