ORLANDO, Fla -- Augusta State booked a two-over
290 Tuesday in the final round of the UCF Rio Pinar Invitational
and finished in fourth place at Rio Pinar Country Club.
ASU’s Henrik Norlander, a sophomore from Danderyd, Sweden,
carded a team-best, two-under 70 and moved up to 11th place with a
54-hole total of one-over 217. Sophomore Carter Newman booked a
one-under 71 and improved 19 spots into a tie for 22nd at
three-over 219.
Junior Jake Amos tied for 27th after a three-over 75 and senior
Janne Kaske tied for 35th following a two-over 74. Sophomore Olle
Bengtsson signed for a non-counting 76 and tied for 41st with a
six-over 222.
Tourney host Central Florida combined for an eight-under 280 and
cruised to a 14-shot victory over runnerup UT-Arlington. Louisville
took third, one shot ahead of ASU, while Vanderbilt and Ole Miss
tied the Jags for fourth place.
UCF’s Blayne Barber shot a three-under 69 and claimed a
two-shot victory over UT-Arlington’s Bobby Massa. UCF’s
Jed Dirksen took third place while the Golden Knights’ David
Johnson and Mercer’s Bill Jones tied for fourth.
ASU returns to action on Sunday and Monday, March 8-9, in the
General Jim Hackler Invitational at TPC Myrtle Beach in Murrells
Inlet, S.C.
