AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Augusta State’s Keith Guest and Henrik Norlander have been named to the Division I PING South Region all-region team, according to a recent announcement from the Golf Coaches Association of America.
With their selections, both Guest and Norlander are now eligible for PING All-America honors.
A fifth-year senior from Athens, Ga., Guest enjoyed a stellar year in 2007-08. He entered the NCAA Championships with the third-lowest stroke average in school history at 71.46 and his four top-20 finishes ranked second to only Norlander. He carded a season-best best tie for 10th in the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate on March 25 in Awendaw, S.C. Guest earned a B.B.A. degree from ASU on Saturday, May 10.
Norlander fashioned perhaps the finest freshman season in the history of the Jaguar men’s golf program. He collected two individual victories, and, along with Guest, helped lead ASU to a second-place finish in the NCAA East Regional at Council Fire Golf Club in Chattanooga, Tenn. He entered the NCAA Championships with a 71.89 stroke average and his four top-10’s and six top-20’s both were team highs.
The Division I PING All-Region teams consist of the top 15 individuals in their region in the Individual Ranking System. Additionally, any player ranked in the top 75 according to Golfstat or the Sagarin rankings not included in their region’s top 15 are added to their All-Region team.
